DAS 100 - Introduction to Dental Assisting

This course is designed to provide the student with an introduction to Dental Assisting. Topics include the history of dentistry, the role of the dental assistant, personal and professional growth, ethics, and a working knowledge of dental terminology. In addition, students are introduced to the dental assisting program offered at Eastern Gateway Community College. This course is presented in an online format; students meet the course objectives by reading online content and participating in online discussions and completing assignments and assessments online. Students are required to complete two (2) observation hours at a dental office or clinic. This course is offered in the Fall and Spring semesters
