NUR 206 - Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing II Credits: 7
This course will focus on the advanced nursing care and concepts of the medical surgical client in an acute care facility. Emphasis on the student role of providing safe, person-centered care to the client experiencing acute or rehabilitative care. The focus of medical surgical content will include cardiovascular, respiratory, Gl/hepatic, perioperative and end of life/palliative care. The student will utilize critical thinking concept maps and create focused assessment findings in an individualized plan of care. Students will document findings and participate in collaborative communication with facility staff. Additionally, transitional care process for the client upon discharge, delegation, clinical judgment and clinical decision making are reinforced. The facility experience will focus on further developing technical, organizational skills as well as critical thinking. The student will explore demographic needs, concerns, and services | within the community.
