NUR 103 - Certified Healthcare Worker to RN Transition Course


Credits: 6

Introduction to the role of the professional nurse as provider of care, coordinator of care, and member of the profession. Topics include but are not limited to the fundamental concepts of nursing practice, history of professional nursing, a systematic framework for decision -making, mechanisms of disease, the needs and problems that nurses help clients manage, and basic psychomotor skills. Emphasis on | knowledge, judgment, skills and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. This course focuses on the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model Nursing process as a problem-solving approach to clinical judgment in performing components of nursing care. Focus placed on those nursing activities, which involve fundamentals of nursing, assessment and management of basic nursing care concepts and skills. Activity and comfort, safe environment, documentation, IV therapy and surgical care. Drug dosage calculation, preparation, and administration is included. To enhance the learning experience for the student, laboratory and clinical experiences in a long term care center and or acute care hospital correlate with classroom
